Transmedi hits the headlines!

Leicester Mercury
The Leicester Mercury headline: Translating Into Success

Imagine falling ill in a strange place where nobody spoke English. How are the local going to know your medical history? There are services which provide portable health records, but only Transmedi can give translations into 107 languages.

The Leicester company provides a system that allows people to carry a record of medical conditions translated into the language of the country they are visiting.

A driving licence-style record lists the information, with access to a web page displaying all the details in whatever language is required. The Anubis money will be used to develop the system onto mobile phones.

Transmedi was set up in Leicester by Susan Eustace, who lived in Portugal for 13 years with her husband and family.

She said: "It was lovely to live in another country, but health was always a concern.

"Making your condition understood is important.

"The Anubis money (see Anubis News) means that we have the funds to help research and develop our mobile solution."

The company was launched in June and is dealing with travellers and well as organisations.

Susan's husband Robert has been a driving force behind many ideas and off-shoots of the business.

His son, has taken on the marketing of the business and a friend and IT expert has been advising on all the technical issues.

Susan and her daughter, Nicole, a Professional Translator, run The Translation Crew providing translation services to organisations that need documents and manuals translated into other languages.
