  Newsletter October 2005

What a start to a new business!

We launched transmedi as a new part of the TransLation Crew Business in early June – after trial, tribulation, hard work and a lot of frustration! However the response we received has been incredible. From the start, we were recognised by Saga Magazine by winning first prize as being one of the Most Innovative New Business Ideas. Visa Business Card awarded transmedi £2,000 for the Best Bright Idea to increase/improve business and we won £10,000 towards communication for the Anubus Award from the East Midlands Development Agency. This has also brought us recognition in local and National Press.

Everyone who hears about transmedi feels it is just what they have been looking for, so we already have lots of favourable comments about the service and product.

We have also launched the Allergic2 card which is a credit-size plastic card which carries the Allergic2 logo, photograph and name of the holder and on the reverse the allergies in English and translated into a chosen language.

We are moving steadfastly on to Allergies downloaded on to your mobile phone, so you don’t need to explain in another language – you can just show the waiter; the Doctor or Chemist and check the ingredients in the supermarket – in any language.

So you can see transmedi is developing by leaps and bounds to give you what you want!

We have found many of the people who are registering to use the transmedi service have decided to move to another country to live – all every exciting, especially when some of them are in their late 70’s and 80’s.

Good for them – life should be exciting – Live the dream!

On the home front we have enquiries from the authorities to have the transmedi record available in several languages (and translated into English) to be used by the medical service here in England – so, the transmedi record certainly has social benefits too!

We have also have many enquiries from companies and individuals to license or franchise parts of the business – this will certainly help towards our target of expansion – as there is only so much one can do……….

Don’t forget that apart from the medical side we have the well established TransLation Crew offering translations. Our network of Professional Translators cover many areas of expertise and in over 50 languages!

From Legal – buying property, moving abroad – in fact we recently translated a speeding ticket that arrived through the post from Spain for one of our Clients….they had paid an on the spot fine and thought it was finished – however the Spanish ticket arrived telling them that they also had a 3 month ban on driving in Spain – had they returned to Spain (and been driving……) they would have been in a lot more trouble! So if you need any translation work – call us!

Translation Crew can also offer technical Translations to companies that want to promote their business in other countries and so apart from furnishing their travelling staff with transmedi records – all of their marketing documents and instruction manuals can be translated.

Please continue visiting www.transmedi.com to find out more about all of the new developments and products we have.

In the meantime here is a little light hearted fun and interest about language……

Greek

Even if you can’t speak Greek, you probably already read quite a lot of it.

Many of the Greek letters can be found in art, mathematics, philosophy and science.

Try below: The first Greek word is written in small letters and then capitals – What does it mean? Clue: A thousand

Of course it is KILO as in kilogram. (The L is an upside down V)

What does this one mean? Clue: A drink – strong and small!

Espresso coffee! (The P looks like pi; R in Greek looks like P and small and capital S (called sigma) are different)

Just another quick one………..

If you are going to Portugal then you will see many words which have ‘’ at the end this is pronounced as ‘ow’ in English – therefore when you see caõ this sounds like cow – but confusing for English dogs – it actually means dog!!

Enjoy language and we hope here at transmedi we can make it work for you – travel with peace of mind!

Until the next Newsletter………..

Keep well and Happy

All the Best

Susan and the Transmedi Crew!

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have anything you want us to add to our website

What our Customers are saying about transmedi

June to September 2005

My wife and I travel extensively and we are delighted with the transmedi service – we feel far more confident travelling with our translated records.

Mr and Mrs ETSolihul Birmingham

My wife has a fatal allergy to eggs and we were very pleased to be advised that we could have just an Allergy Card translated into Cantonese to carry with us. This has certainly taken the worry away from us when we stop off en route for Australia .

Mr and Mrs D Scotland

I travel to America frequently on business and having my transmedi record and card even though in English just assured me that if anything happened to me, people would know what medical problems allergies I have.

Miss JS Leicestershire

What a wonderful idea this is and what we have been looking for. We travel a great deal and having had a recent heart attack I am pleased that my information is now provided for people to understand in the countries that we are visiting. Thank you and I wish you enormous success.

Mr and Mrs BS Warwickshire

My transmedi card proved to be extremely useful on a recent visit to Portugal . I keep it with me here in England as well. Thank you.
