Newsletter 5

I apologise for the delay in getting the 5th newsletter out – but we have made several changes to Transmedi services and I have also made some personal changes.

Let’s start with Transmedi.

We have adapted the service, some changes have been made by customer requests and others; well, we have been so inundated with business that we have had to look to automating the site to continue to give the high standard of service.

There is now a questionnaire available – so you can actually see what you are getting!

The process is simple – if you find that the questionnaire has all of the medical conditions and allergies you have – and covers the languages you require; then just fill it in and your can print off a copy on your own printer to carry with you. You can also print off a paper/card to carry with you with the two codes you require to see your information on the www.transmedi.info site*.

We have managed to reduce the cost on this to £15 inclusive, to cover all of the 16 languages that we offer with this automated service. Don’t forget you get an English document and also a translated document, so both are convenient to carry with you at home or away.

Your information will still be shown on the www.transmedi.info site for 12 months*.

We are getting a tremendous amount of interest in this service and it is currently being trialled in a number of doctor’s surgeries.

You can contact Simon Bland if you would like to know more about Transmedi services on a commercial basis. simon.bland@transmedi.com

Transmedi on a more individual basis?

If the automated service does not cover your exact needs, then please contact us from the e-quote page or just email translation office@transmedi.com with details of what you would like translated.

If you already have a letter from your consultant – we can translate that directly for you – or we can work with you to reduce the wording to be more concise and easier to read quickly if there is an emergency. The cost of this individual service depends on how much needs translating and into which language (as this is on an individual basis we can translate into over 50 languages!) However we can offer you an immediate discount coming through the Transmedi website!

The allergy site; texting your allergy to your mobile phone – is doing very well and has been taken on by several leading holiday companies. You just show the translation which you have stored on your mobile phone – to the medical person, restaurant or food store. This service is also available directly from the www.myallergy.info website at only £2.50 per language.

Please contact me if you feel there are any other services or changes you would like us to make at Transmedi – there does not appear to be another company like us anywhere……..and whilst I say that – do be very careful about any medical on-line translations ours are backed by Professional Translators who are well experienced in medical translations.

So what has been happening personally – well I have moved to live in Portugal more often. My husband, Robert and I travel back to England occasionally and with all of the changes in technology it is becoming easier to work anywhere (as I notice people sitting on the beach answering their mobile phone as if they were in the office!!) Many of the requests for the transmedi service since we have started have been from individuals and families moving to live abroad and as mentioned before in some of the newsletters – some of them are in their late 70s and 80’s so – so it seems everyone wants to get as much out of life as possible. We had lived in Portugal for many years previously and our children grew up here so as they have married and have families here – then it seemed an obvious choice for us so decided to move too!

The climate here is lovely and blue skies every day are certainly beneficial to ones outlook – I don’t know if I will be saying this in another month as the heat of July/August and September arrives.

The Transmedi Group and Translation Crew have not changed they are still registered and tax paying in England so the company has not changed just our own location (occasionally). As we work more with the internet and email and our Translators are world-wide anyway – we can actually work from anywhere.

When we get round to it we will be providing a website for people moving specifically to the Algarve . This will have helpful advice and links from buying property, all legal services, to finding builders/carpenters etc and of course the basis of our business; translations!

Happy travelling this summer – and be safe, if you have any medical conditions or allergies, then please use our service – it’s there to help you whatever your needs!

Susan
